On the cover of the summer edition of Capitol File, White House social secretary Desiree Rogers and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett are photographed in ultra-expensive high fashion, while inside the pages of the luxury lifestyle magazine the aides extol the virtues of the "simplest things" and promote a White House "grass-roots strategy" of public outreach!
The two ladies, old
Women's Wear Daily has reported that White House press secretary Robert Gibbs recently selectively vetoed publication of glam photos of Ms. Rogers in a de la Renta ball gown (not the thing to wear to a global economic meltdown) for the Wall Street Journal's luxury title, WSJ.
Recalling that report, we wondered if the two White House fashionistas had bypassed Mr. Gibbs to pose for the Cap File pics. Apparently not. It turns out the Capitol File shoot took place in early March, several weeks before the March 20 WSJ shoot.
You can pick up a copy of Cap File's summer issue after Saturday's White House Correspondents Dinner at the magazine's after-party at the Corcoran.
There, the cover gals will be joined by other common folk, including: Wanda Sykes, Anne Hathaway, Sting, Kevin Bacon, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, Ellen Burstyn, Dana Delany, Kara DioGuardi, Barry Levinson, Eva Longoria Parker, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Matthew Modine, Bill O'Reilly, Narciso Rodriguez, Christian Slater, Jon Voight, Kate Walsh, Kerry Washington and Forest and Keisha Whitaker.
